Device Labels¶
Every phone Reyder sells wholesale carries a Reyder label: logo, model, storage, color, lock, grade and a scannable IMEI barcode. The label prints on a Dymo LabelWriter (30334 roll, 2-1/4" × 1-1/4") the moment the phone is accepted at receiving, so it goes on before the phone is shelved.
| Who | Inbound warehouse operator; anyone who replaces a damaged label |
| Use when | Receiving phones, adding a phone in Device Intake, or replacing a label |
| Have ready | The receiving computer with the Dymo plugged in and set up once (below) |
| Done when | Every received phone shows Label: Current |
| Stop if | A label prints for the wrong phone or a scan you undid |
What the label shows¶
| Part | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Logo | The Reyder logo, in black, on every label |
| Model | The phone's model in Odoo |
| Storage · Color · Lock | The phone's record. Anything not known is left off; nothing prints as "Unknown" |
| Grade badge | Outlined, AS RECEIVED: the supplier/PO grade, before Reyder grades the phone. Solid, GRADE: Reyder's grade from QC or Device Intake |
| Barcode | The IMEI as a Code 128 barcode; any warehouse scanner reads it |
| IMEI | The digits grouped 35 391510 987654 2 so they are easy to check against the phone |
One-time setup on the receiving computer¶
Browsers show a print dialog for every PDF. Chrome's kiosk printing turns that off so each scan prints straight to the Dymo. Do this once per computer.
- Install DYMO Connect and set the LabelWriter's default paper to 30334 · 2-1/4 in × 1-1/4 in.
- In Chrome, print any page once and choose the LabelWriter as the printer. Chrome remembers it.
-
Quit Chrome completely, then start it from a shortcut with kiosk printing:
-
Open the receiving scanner and click Labels: Off in the header so it reads Labels: On. The switch is saved on this computer only, so laptops without a Dymo never try to print. The first phone you scan is your test label.
Without kiosk printing
Labels still print, but Chrome shows its print dialog for each one. Press Enter to print. Leave the switch Off on such computers and use Print N labels instead, so one dialog prints a whole batch.
Print as you receive¶
In Device Ops → Receiving → IMEI Manifests, open the manifest and start scanning as usual (Purchasing & Receiving). With Labels: On:
- Every accepted scan prints that phone's label. Rejected, duplicate and set-aside scans never print.
- The last-scan card shows Printing label, then Label printed. If it shows Label failed, click Retry. The phone is received either way.
- Reprint last prints the most recent phone again, for a jammed or crooked label.
- Print N labels prints every phone on this receipt that has no label yet.
Undo means discard
If you Undo Last Scan after its label printed, Odoo reminds you to throw that label away. It belongs to a scan that no longer exists.
Print a whole receipt¶
On the Receiving Manifest, click Print Labels. When some phones already have labels, choose Only phones without a label or Every received phone. Labels print one per phone, in scan order.
Device Intake¶
Device Ops → Receiving → Device Intake has a Print label box, on by default. Add & Continue saves the phone, prints its label, and opens the next entry. Staff enter the grade here, so these labels show the solid GRADE badge.
Reprint a damaged label¶
In Device Ops → Devices → All Devices, click Reprint on the phone's row, or Reprint Label on the phone's page. To print several, select them and choose Actions → Print Device Labels. Every reprint is noted in the phone's history.
Outdated labels¶
Odoo remembers what each label says. When the phone's record changes after printing, the label no longer matches and the phone shows Label: Outdated, with the reason (for example Grade B → A, or Grade B confirmed by QC). This happens when QC grades a phone received AS RECEIVED, or when a model, storage, color or lock is corrected.
Use the Label Outdated filter in All Devices to find these phones, and reprint before they ship. Label Not Printed finds phones that never had a label.
Common problems¶
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| A print dialog opens for every label | Chrome was not started with --kiosk-printing. Quit Chrome fully and use the shortcut |
| The label prints small or rotated | Set the LabelWriter's default paper to 30334 in DYMO Connect, and set Chrome's margins to None once |
| Nothing prints and there is no error | Check that the Dymo is Chrome's default printer and that it has labels |
| Label failed | Read the message under the chip, fix it, then click Retry |
| The scanner stops reacting after a print | Click anywhere on the scanner page and scan again |
